Low Testosterone and Men's Health
Welcome to the Julie Taylor MD Center for Functional Medicine located in Pasadena, CA.
Dr. Julie Taylor’s practice, located in Pasadena, California, focuses on functional medicine with a specialization in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
Testosterone levels naturally decline as men and women age, but sometimes levels get so low they can cause low sex drive, muscle loss, and decreased energy. With bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, men and women can improve their overall health and boost their quality of life by overcoming age-related disorders that develop as a result of hormonal decline or imbalances.
"I am a functional medicine and wellness practitioner and am excited you are here. I have helped countless men and women of all ages change their life for the better and look forward to helping you!"

Low Testosterone and Men's Health FAQ's
Testosterone is the “male” sex hormone that helps maintain energy, libido, and muscle mass. It also helps manage a man’s bone density, fat distribution, red blood cell production, and sperm production. Testosterone is present in both men and women, but men naturally have more. When men do not produce enough testosterone, they begin to experience hair loss on the head, under the arms, or on the groin, as well as poor sleep, and muscle atrophy. They can also experience low energy and a decreased sex drive.
Andropause is the time in a man’s life when he experiences a dramatic testosterone decrease. Testosterone production peaks during adolescence and early adulthood. Throughout a man’s 30’s, testosterone begins to steadily decrease by around 10% each decade. By his 40’s or 50’s, testosterone levels can drastically drop to cause a number of health issues. Other hormones that may become deficient include DHEA and Growth Hormone. This can create symptoms such as thinning hair, insomnia, increased abdominal fat, muscle atrophy, erectile dysfunction, low libido, anxiety, depression, outbursts of anger, and poor memory.
Low testosterone can also occur if you’ve experienced injury to your testicles, had testicular cancer, have been sick with a serious infection, suffer from type 2 diabetes, have chronic liver or kidney disease, or are obese.
Dr. Taylor offers bioidentical hormone replacement therapy programs to help men experiencing low testosterone. Bioidentical hormones are derived from plant ingredients and have the exact same molecular structure as the hormones your body produces. Bioidentical testosterone replacement is offered through a cream or with pellets that time release 24/7 to best mimic your natural hormone release patterns.
Men benefit as much, if not more, than women do from bioidentical hormone therapy.
